Image
[Article has R-rated content] (Image sourced from http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/trailers/778163-logan-international-trailer-features-r-rated-scene ) X Men fanatics were treated to the trailer for the 3 rd and last Wolverine movie, named Logan, on the 20 th October. With over 10 million views under its belt and over 100 thousand likes and only just over 2 thousand dislikes on the official 20 th Century Fox trailer on YouTube, it’s safe to say it was met by an overwhelmingly positive reception. (Image sourced from https://www.yahoo.com/movies/hugh-jackmans-wolverine-is-an-aged-alienated-killer-in-mournful-first-logan-trailer-140108329.html ) The trailer is dripping with style from the very off-set with an amazing choice of trailer music in the form of Johnny Cash’s Hurt. The sombre and heavy tone of the lyrics and guitar notes pairs perfectly with this bleak and ravaged future for mutant kind that Logan has found himself in and shows great signs for the grounded ...

BurtonReviews Batman Night of the Monster Men: Werewolf of Gotham

Image
(Image sourced from http://www.newsarama.com/29773-batman-detective-nightwing-take-part-in-dc-rebirth-s-1st-crossover.html ) With only one main story arc finished in each Bat-book’s rebirth line, already we get a mega crossover between the titles (Batman, Detective Comics, Nightwing) that spans a month and brings together Batman, Nightwing, Batwoman, Clayface, Orphan and Spoiler to take on a monstrous force that horrifyingly give Godzilla a run for his money. (Image sourced from http://www.nerdspan.com/70820-2/ ) The story of this crossover event, Night of the Monster Men, sees Gotham buckling up for a long night as a storm is rapidly approaching on the horizon. And if that wasn’t bad enough for the unluckiest town of Gotham, a sinister force decides to throw nightmarish monsters into the mix just to make everyone’s day abit harder. From an infecting fungi to a towering behemoth, it’s suffice to say that the Bat-family have a lot on their hands this night. One great...

BurtonReviews Luke Cage: Sweet Christmas

Image
(Image sourced from http://emsmagazine.mx/marvels-luke-cage-estreno-netflix/ )   So far the Netflix Marvel shows have been mostly knocking it out of the park. Starting with the phenomenally dark and brutal first season of DareDevil, through to the emotionally charged Jessica Jones and then the less focused, but still amazingly shot and action packed second season of DareDevil. Now Luke Cage, the tank of a human with unbreakable skin, is the latest of these gritty street level heroes to join the front lines and defend New York’s citizens from the city’s violent criminal underground. (Video sourced from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHtdNnDasU8 )   The story of Luke Cage sees our titular character, played by Mike Colter, just wanting to live a normal, peaceful life. But as the greats always say: with great power, such as having bullet proof skin and the strength to smash through a brick wall without breaking a sweat, comes great responsibility. And when the cri...

BurtonReviews Blair Witch: So I’m Never Going Camping Again

Image
(Image sourced from http://www.dreadcentral.com/reviews/178817/blair-witch-2016/ ) Originally known as ‘The Woods’, this secret sequel to the revolutionary The Blair Witch Project, that was pretty much the catalyst for the popularity and for better or worse volume of found footage movies, has a lot on its shoulders, being the true sequel to a horror film that rocked, terrified and inspired the industry and it’s audiences alike you’ve got a pretty big shadow cast down onto you. But with some great talent behind it, most notably the director of The Guest being at the helm, Adam Wingard, the movie had some safe and sturdy hands to lead the audience’s quivering ones through this camping trip from hell. The story of Blair with sees the James and his friends enter those foreboding woods for his long lost sister Hannah, one of the people who went missing after the events of the first Blair Witch. With 6 new victims to play with, the Blair Witch gets up to her old tricks of tormentin...

BurtonReviews Don’t Breathe: Oh For F*@K’S SAKE REALLY?!

Image
(Image sourced from http://www.tvqc.com/2016/05/dont-breathe-le-retour-de-jane-levy-dans-le-nouveau-sam-raimi/ ) Cinema prices can be a right rip off, especially in screenings of Don’t Breathe; not because it’s a bad movie, far from it, but because throughout the whole hour and a half runtime of the film I was glued to the edge of my seat; I mean I had to pay for three quarters of a seat that I didn’t even use. But to be honest, even with that criminal level rip off, the price was more than worth it to see this heart pounding ride of breath taking intensity and never ending “OH COME ON, SERIOUSLY?!” scenarios that make Fede Alvarez’s Don’t Breathe one hell of a ride to experience. The story of Don’t Breathe has you following three thieves that decide to rob a blind man’s home, easy score right? Well not so much when it turns out said Blind man, powerfully played by Stephan Lang, is a force of nature ex veteran that would give the Terminator a run for his money. Suffice to say ...

BurtonReviews Batman I am Gotham (Batman Rebirth Issues 1-5): Sowing Seeds

Image
(Image sourced from http://411mania.com/movies/411s-comic-reviews-batman-rebirth-1-nighthawk-1-more/ ) After a legendary run through the New 52 by Scott Snyder on the main Batman title, anyone following it up has some mighty big shoes to fill. Que the newest rising star in the comic book writer community, Tom King (known for his work on Greyson and the Omega men). A ex CIA agent, his real world experience were sure to bring an interesting new take on the dark crusader, but were DC right to trust their flagship title to him. In short hell yes. In long here’s the rest of my review. (Image sourced from http://www.snappow.com/comics/dc-rebirth-creative-teams-revealed/ ) The first storyline of the Rebirth Batman’s tale sees Batman encounter two new and extremely powerful superheroes that want to save Gotham. They are called Gotham and Gotham Girl and they give Batman a hope for the future of Gotham for when the Bat just isn’t enough to save his beloved city; that is if they ...
