BurtonReviews Gifted: Civil War 2

(Image sourced from http://www.fsm-media.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/gifted-movie-moment-kitchen-featuring-chris-evans-and-mckenna-grace-2.jpg )   500 Days of Summer is one of my favourite films of all time, and its director – Marc Webb’s first ever feature film. The films quirky execution and deeply personal and emotional approach is what makes it an engrossing watch. Webb’s talent at bringing out true, unfiltered emotion from his stories is something that he brought over to his turn as the director of the Amazing Spider-Man movies, and no matter how you feel about them, is undoubtedly the best part of those attempted franchise starters. But with Spider-Man out of the (appropriately named) Webb’s hands, Webb is now free to return to his quainter, indie roots. And that’s exactly what he did with a much smaller scale and personal story in Gifted, but can he strike gold twice by returning to his element, or has the studio system forever tainted his vision. BurtonReviews’ Best of E3: What Made Me Squeal

Image
(Image Sourced from https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/e3-2017-every-game-from-e3-coming-in-2018-and-beyo/2900-1292/ )   And so another E3 is over and another glorious celebration of everything gaming can be put into the history books. While not an E3 that has left me scraping my blown brains off of the walls of my home, this year wasn’t anything to scoff at either. Sure there weren’t as many surprises as the Final Fantasy VII Remake and Spider-Man PS4 reveal filled E3s of 2 years prior, but what we got was not only a solid showing of games that we can all look forward to playing in both the not so and very distant future, but it was an exciting and tantalising showing that gives me wide eyed hope for the thrilling looking future if this industry. But while there were really no stinkers this year, a couple of things to come out of this years E3 did stand out from the crop as just that needed extra bit of “OMG FREAKIN' AWESOME”. So without further ado, lets get into the best

BurtonReviews Nintendo Spotlight: Technically Not a Conference

Image
(Image sourced from http://nintendoeverything.com/reggie-confirms-nintendo-spotlight-e3-2017-will-be-25-minutes-breaking-more-news-during-treehouse-lives-first-hour/ ) And now we come to the last show of the year. No please, don’t cry, wipe away those tears because we still have days of E3 left with the main floor open and even more extensive looks into the games that shocked, stole our hearts, and made us unbelievably excited, still to come. But before all of that, I think Nintendo has a couple of words to say. After hours upon hours of conferences, I audibly sighed with relief when I saw the Nintendo Spotlight was only 30 minutes long. And they used their brief but sweet time wisely, showcasing only the games that were most immediate to fans and could be purchased and played within the next 12 months, and here are the highlights. BurtonReviews Sony’s E3 Conference: The 4DXperience

Image
(Image sourced from https://www.psxhax.com/threads/sony-playstation-e3-2017-media-showcase-press-conference-date.2237/ ) And now, the presentation that I have been waiting this whole E3 to see, Sony’s PlayStation 2017 E3 conference. WOW. This conference started off with a beautiful live musical performance featuring weird but elegant waterfall art and just did not stop entertaining from there. Ever since the launch event for the PS4 in 2013, Sony has perfected the art of the conference, knowing exactly what fans have come to see. Not a 10 minute long presentation of the game where someone walks us through slides on why it is so great, no, we’re here for the game itself. Games, games, games, that seems to be the philosophy of this Sony’s conferences of late and this one was no exception. BurtonReviews Ubisoft’s E3 Conference: Passion

Image
(Image sourced from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q1s3lOzQ1A ) With the final day of E3 here, so too are my most anticipated conferences. And starting off the final day of the biggest event in gaming is the Ubisoft conference. Ubisoft is one of the biggest game development companies in the industry right now, cranking out blockbuster franchise after blockbuster franchise on a yearly basis. They almost own the market on 3 rd party triple A games, so of course their conference is the best place to see the majority of the games you’ll be playing over the next year. (Image sourced from http://za.ign.com/e3-2017/107664/feature/e3-2017-all-the-news-trailers-and-gameplay-from-the-ubisoft ) But damn I did not expect to come out of this conference looking forward to so many games that I either had no idea about, or already knew were coming but didn’t really give much attention to. This year’s Ubi conference was fun, well-paced, and full of great games and a massive step up
